Sandon Plunket Ball
GREAT SOCIAL SUCCESS One of the highlights of the dancing season in Sandon this year was the Plunket Society's Coronation Ball which was held in the Town Hall on Thursday evening. Visitors had come from Wellington, Wanganui, Hunterville, Palmerston North, Feilding and the surrounding district. Mrs. Rex McKelvie, president of the society, who was indefatigable in her attention to guests, had chosen a lovely frock, of navy georgette and lace. An able lieutenant was Mrs. T. A. Adams, ' secretary, who wore mulberry cloque and silver. The ballroom presented a gay scene; overhead a pretty colour scheme of pink ; and gold streamers had been carried out, while national flags were hung on the side of the prosenium. Effective touches of greenery covered the walls. Combining enthusiastically with the president and secretary were the following members of the committee:—Mesdames F. S. Collidr, who wore applique taffeta and gold flowers on brown velour crepe do chine; H. Pearce, old gold satin beaute; J. Currie, black blistered satin and lace; O. C. Ellerm, black corded taffeta; E. N. Butler, black georgette and satin; B. S. Lawrence, biack floral tinsel crepe de chine; and J. R. Bowater, wine velvet. A delightful interlude in the proceedings was when Miss Beth Parkes (Feilding) and partner demonstrated the quick step, Rumba and waltz. Each dance was beautifully executed and Miss Parkes and her partner received warm applause. Among those present were Misses H. Saunders (Feilding), pink lace and georgette; M.
