reported that tho drama circle was entering two plays for the drama festival. Mrs Whisker had produced the play for the Institute birthday and had earned much praise but it was felt they needed the help of a more experienced perton. Mr Renwick of the Palmerston North Repertory Society had agreed to assist as producer and the circle had been pleased to accept his help. It was announced that the drama circle was holding a euchre and dance on August 2. An apology was received from Miss Curtis, Toanui, who was to have given a lecture. An amusing half hour was spent when a number of members filled the gaps by telling many humerous stories of children’s funny sayings. The competition for a bed-jacket for seniors was won by Mrs A. Griffith with Mrs E. Clevely 2. The month’s flower competition resulted: —Violets, Mrs R. R. Tait, Helleborus, Mrs Palmer, Mrs N. E. Thomas won the competition for the seagrass stool. After the meeting many members stayed to see two plays rehearsed by the drama circle under Mr Renwick’s direction. The hostesses for the day were Mesdames H. Swainson, F. J. Russell, W. Ausin, C.
