Wrestling

BIG BOUT TO-NIGHT The Opera House, Palmerston North, to-night will see one of the best wrest*' ling bouts of tho last two or three seasons. Lofty Blomfield, the giant Aucklander, is to meet a man as heavy as himself, and like tho New Zealander, ia also young and in his prime. The demonstration in favour of Don Mclntyre in Auckland when the referee awarded the fight to Blomfield on points after one fall each in a stirring contest, will only serve to make tho American do his best to justify those who stuck up for him, so while it cannot by any means be called a grudge fight, it is the second occasion that this popular pair of heavyweights meet and on the Auck* land bout, there can be little between them. The amateur bouts will be fought out by a representative team from Waoganui and boys to correspond in weights have been selected to rep* resent Manawatu. “Red** Jones, who is a favourite with Wanganui audn ences, is to meet Jim Clark, of Palmerston, and while the river city folk think the fight is all over except the bald announcement, there aro many supporters in our city who cannot see Clark getting licked at his own weight. To** night will show', however, and to those who have not yet made their reservations, wo emphasise the urgency of doing so as soon as convenient, or arri«i ing early at the scene of conflict.
