Valencia Government’s Troubles ACCORDING TO REBEL BROADCAST Uuited P’-esa Association—Bv Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 9.55 p.m. PERPIGNAN, May 26. The Valencia Government is reported to have sent troops to Barbastro, 75 miles north-west of Barcelona, to quell an anarchist rising in which at least a hundred persons are said to have been killed. According to broadcasts from General Franco's radio stations the anarchists executed the Popular Front leaders and proclaimed a dictatorship. The Government troops were ordered to impose martial law if necessary and bring those responsible to trial as quickly as possible. FINDING HOMES FOR LITTLE BASQUES Received Wednesday, 6.30 p.m. LONDON, May 26. A home will have been found within three weeks for all the 4000 Basque children at present encamped at North Stoneham. The Salvation Army at their orphanages and elsewhere are taking 1400 and the Catholic authorites at their convents and Catholic homes 1200, whilo other organisations are taking from 50 to 200. All the 4000 children are Catholics and priests will be enabled to visit them at all times. FRANCO’S NOTE TO LEAGUE. PROTEST AGAINST “RED” DELEGATE SEVILLE, May 25. General Franco’has sent a Note to the League protesting against tho presence of a delegate of “Red” Spain, alleging numerous infringements of the Spanish constitution by the Valencia Government, extolling freedom of social forms and religious tolerance, tho discipline of his own side, which was master of two-thirds of Spain, all colonies and half the population.
