Onion Marketing Scheme
BENEFIT TO GROWERS, SAYS COMMITTEE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A meeting of the {South Island Onion Marketing Advisory Committee was held in Christchurch to-day further to discuss the marketing position in re gard to onions. After the meeting, which was attended by all membero, who included both the president auu the secretary of the Canterbury Onion Growers' Association, the chairman, Mr. R. B. Tennent, handed to the Press the following resolution, which was passed unanimously by the committee: ‘‘This committee deprecates the critical publicity which has been given to the onion marketing scheme. While a scheme of this nature in its inception must 6b subject to minor defects which only experience cau rectify, the committee wishes to place on record its opinion that in the main the scheme operated to the advantage of growers generally, and the Minister of Agriculture has in an honest endeavour materially improved the onion growing and marketing position,”
