Lack of Inquiry for Fat Cattle MODERATE SHEEP YARDING From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, May 25. A lack of inquiry accounted lor n lifeless sale in tho fat cattle section of tho Waipukurau salo to-day. The offering consisted of light-finished entries, many being in store condition only. This quality was not wanted, and in consequence practically the whole Section was passed. Vendors were not prepared to meet tho market at the values offered, with the exception of ono pen of cows. The yarding did not include a prime entry showing butchers quality. The bullocks were in store order but would finish readily on good grazing. The store-cattle section included some useful lines of station-bred steers and heifers. Trading of these was generally difficult, despite the quality submitted. Weaners improved on last week’s rates, but failed to make last Wednesdays’ values at Stortford Lodge. Rising three-year cl.ean-bred steers brought to £7 15/* and similar aged heifers, described as empty, realised £5. A moderate yarding of fat sheep showing a wide range in quality was offered. Best prime wethers made 29/5 while light sorts made 25/-. Most of the lambs penned were small grown, tho lightest entries making 18/-. FAT CATTLE In from Porangahau, 8 medium-fram-ed Aberdeen Angus and Hereford cows, showing age and carrying quite a lot of condition, but of plain quality, were passed at £6 15/-. Seven small-grown clean-bred Aberdeen Angus bullocks, light finished, but would top off readily as prime quality, were passed at £8 15/-. Nino small-framed Aberdeen Angus cross heifers, in good order for finishing as prime, were passed at £5 15/-. These heifers were rather light, but showed quality. In from Porangahau, 8 Aberdeen Angus cross cows, plain in quality, were passed at £5 10/-. Also from Porangahau, a truck clean-bred small-framed Aberdeen An* jus cows, medium finish, were passed at £5 11/6. STORE CATTLE. In from the back country, 59 medium-grown Aberdeen Angus and Hereford weaner (steers, showing good coats, and a little uneven grown, in medium condition, were passed at £4 17/-. An entry of 15 rising 3-year cleanbred Aberdeen Angus steers, medium grown, in very good Btoro condition, ready for the finishing paddock, were passed at £7 15/-. An entry of 21 rising 3-year Aberdeen Angus heifers, described as being empty, in good storo condition, were passed at £5 1/-. On account Mr. A. McLean, Porangahau, 13 Hereford cows (i.c. to Aberdeen Angus) met the market at £5. The weaner steers off these cows,, unevenly grown, brought £4 2/-. An entry of 28 well-bred mediumgrown Hereford weaner steers, well coated and in good order were passed at £4 16/-. FAT SHEEP, An entry of well-woolled prime heavy ewes brought 24/-. A line of 20 small to medium-grown prime Down-cross wethers were passed at 24/3. An entry of early-shorn small-fram-ed wethers of medium quality were passed at 25/-. Nine early-shorn heavy prime-quali-ty wethers sold at 29/5. A line of prime heavy ewes, very well woolled, sold at 25/1. STORE SHEEP Off hill country, 181 medium-grown woolly Romney wether lambs, the best being in good store order, the line in hrst condition, passed at 16/-. One hundred and fifty-one mediumgrown hill-country early-shorn Romney wether lambs, in handy order, made 12/-. On account of Mr R. Matthews, Whakarara, 252 nicely-grown and wellvvoolled Romney wether lambs brought 20/6. These carried quite a lot of condition, being a good-handling ‘line in fresh and attractive order. Out of the same draft, 110 smallgrown lambs, in bright, healthy order, sold at 18//. account of Mr D. Ritchie, Omakere, 130 early-shorn Romney wether lambs in very good store condition brought 15/10. On account of Mr W. White and Son, Otane, 152 shorn well-grown Corrie-dale-cross lambs, in particularly healthy and bright order and carrying a lot of condition, sold at 14/9. * 0 Down from Argyll, a line of 80 welluiouthed ewes, carrying & good slipe and in lamb to S.D. rams, met the market at 27/6.

In from Mangaorapa, 80 very smallgrown woolly Romney ewe lambs, in poor condition, sold at 13/-. On account of Mr H. Norris, Oma kere, 80 nicely-grown ewes, in fresh order and particularly well done, tin foundation of a good breeding line am showing quality throughout, met th* market at 30/1.
