A cricket match between a team from the Apiti school and a team from tho local district, was played on the Domain on Saturday. Apiti proved the victors bj eight wickets and 10 runs. This score would have been much larger nad it not been for the fine fieiding of Hop wood, who caught three in succession. The underhand bowling of C. Jones was also responsible for dismissing three in one over. Luncheon and afternoon tea were served by the wives of the committeemen and other helpers. Messrs Bird and Amadio acted as umpires. General. Mr and Mrs D. Wood, who were married recently were tendered a welcome at their home on Friday evening, when about sixty residents gathered to wish them every happiness for the future. One of the victims of the infantile paralysis epidemic is Air A. Warren, a former resident of this district. Mr Warren contracted paralysis in a railway camp near Wairoa and died in the Wairoa hospital on Tuesday of last week. Sympathy of their friends throughout the district is extended his mother. Airs Warren, and his Bisters, Alesdames C. Reilly and C. Hall.
