Schools Participate in Shield Events Beautiful weather conditions, in spite of the over-night’s rain, prevailed for the Bulls-Ohakea annual sports meeting which took place on Saturday on the Bulls domain. The whole place could uot have looked better The hon. secretary, Mr C. B. Anderson, and members of the different committees, are to be congratulated on the capable way the sports were run. At the conclusion of the shield competition Mr C. E. V’ile, in presenting the “Mansell” Memorial Shield to the winners, Upper Tutaenui School, congratulated them on their win and handed the trophy to the captain, Master Trever Marshall. He then called for cheers for the winners. Mr Small, who was in charge of the winning team, replied. Mr Vile then presented the “Vile” Shield to the winners, Marton Junction School, who T.fr.c iron the trophy on several other occasions. He paid a tribute to the sporting way this school had brought the Shield back this year and, although giving away 40 points to other competitors, were again able to win. He wished them every luck and hoped to see them again, lie handed the shield to their captain, Master George Lees, amidst cheering from all. Mr F. Hempleman, who had charge of the Shield competitions and also the winning school, said they were pleased I to retain the shield but would like to see more schools competing.
