“Height of Meanness And Vindictiveness”

LACK OF PROVISION FOR THE DUKE OF WINDSOR LLOYD GEORGE’S CRITICISM United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Sunday, 7.30 pan. LONDON, March 13. Mr. Lloyd George intends to protest to the committee framing King George's Civil List against the lack of State provision of an income for the Duke of Windsor. He says: “It is scandalous that the ex-King should be left without an income when all memgers of the Royal Family are provided for. It Is generally admitted that he behaved most decently in abdicating in order to make no difficulty for the reigning King. It is the height of meanness and vindictiveness not to provide for him. ’ The News-Chronicle understands that Mr. Winston Churchill shares these views. Mr. Lloyd George is a member of the committee. He added: “I’m loyal to the Throne whoever occupies it, but that is nothing to do with the treatment of a man who has been King and who abdicated rather than make trouble for his successor or the Gov***** ment. * ’
