Women’s Institute
The Hamua Women's Institute held Its monthly meeting on Friday last. The meeting was opened with the singing of the "Ode to Friendship," and when the business was dealt with, Mr. Hamilton gave a very instructive talk on gardening, which was very much appreciated by all members. The afternoon social competition, "Hitting a ping-pong ball into a soup plate," \fas won by Mrs. P. Galvin. The points competition, "Tho best dato loaf," judged by the visiting members, was won by Mrs. 13. Humphrey, Mrs. J\ Davies gaining second. "Tho best bloom in the garden" was won by Mrs. W. J. {Smith and Mrs. P. Davies second, this being judged by Mr. Hamilton, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks by the president (Mrs. Hobbs). A dainty afternoon tea was served bjthe hostesses, Mrs. R. J. Smith and Mrs. B. Humphrey. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
