Eketahuna Win Firemen’s Trophy

WOODVILLE SECOND. .'he triangular contest for the shield /tween the fire brigades of Eketaauna, Pahiatua and Woodville took place at Eketahuna on Saturday. Eketahuna, who won the trophy at Woodville, were again successful, the placings being: Eketahuna (four points) 1, Pahiatua (three points) 2, and Woodville (one point) 3. The contest for the E. U. Lett oneman championship rosebowl, which was competed for for the first time, attracted much interest, Fireman A. Gowler bringing the trophy to Fahiatui after a sterling performance. The shield contest (all wet events) was divided into three sections. The firet (four-men motor) was won by Pahiatua. The next (four-men lumber) somewhat unsatisfactory as all thred teams were disqualified for breaches. Requiring but one point to equalise, Pahiatua had the misfortune to be disqualified in the concluding event, three-men disabled, which was won by Eketahuna. The starter was Mr. E. H. Lett and Messrs. Le Comte and G. Jessou acted as timekepers, while the judging was m tho hands of Messrs. Cook, Jenkins and H. Braggins, of Masterton.
