The Pfchiatu* branch of the Farmers’ Union Trill meet to-day when arrangements will be made for an early visit of the Dominion organiser (Colonel 8. J. E. Closey, M.C.) for the compensated price campaign. Mr. C. H. Wilton has donated a medal to the Pahiatua A. and P. Association as a second prize for the Young Farmers' Club sheep judging competition at the recent Pahiatua Show. As a result of the recent Pahiatua sale the railway officials had handled more stock in one week than they had in the same period since 1923, 14,415 animajs—2lG truckloads in all—being railed. Almost all of them were shoep, and the station had one of the busiest periods for some time. Cr. X W. Sturton is to represent the Pahiatua Borough Library at the Library Association conference at Wellington, which commences to-day. Mr. W. F. Peters, popularly known as "Dad," won the miniature cup for the steward disposing of the most tickets in the sheep and fat beast guessing competition at the recent Pahiatua A. and P. Association show. Bowling competition games were advanced a further stage over the weekend. Two games were played in the ftenior single, Pilkington defeating t’osford and Hodd. The game in the Junior pairs between Fouhy and Wright and Davey and Curtain furnished plenty of excitement and ended in a win for the former after an even score on the 20th head.
