While proceeding down the coast to Auckland on its way from Ocean Island, the Union Company’s steamer Kaiwarra diverted from its course early this afternoon to pick up the fishing launch Marina from Mangawai which had broken down and was drifting helplessly. The Kaiwarra took the Marina in tow and brought her to Mangawai Heads where she was met by another launch which towed the disabled launch back to Mangawai which is on the east coast of North Auckland below Waipu Cove.
The Marina, which is owned by Mr. F. Granich, ol Mangawai, left early in tho morning on a trip to the deep sea fishing grounds off the coast. Mr. Franich was in charge and the passengers included Dr. W. H. Horton, oil Auckland, president of the Mangawhai Deep Sea Fishing Club, Mrs. Morton and three other Auckland residents.
