Obituary
MISS L. O. TAYLOR There passed away, on Tuesday last, at the residence of her sister (Aliss J. M. Taylor, 12 Nash street) Aliss Lillias Oswald Taylor. For the past year Miss Taylor had suffered from the effects of an illness and a severe operation which had necessitated a lengthy period of recuperation, and somo four months ago her health became further inpaired. Aliss Taylor will be remembered by a large number, in Wellington and Masterton especialiy, for her open-hearted kindness, a trait which was the more evident in her profession as a teacher. The deceased lady was born in Milton, Otago, being a daughter of tho late Mr and Airs W. Taylor. She was educated at Dunedin and, after entering tho teaching profession, was stationed at various schools in Otago. Later, Aliss Taylor removed to the Wellington Education Board’s district, holding appointments in Wellington city and the suburbs, and for eight years at the Alasterton Central School. The greater portion of AliSs Taylor’s career was spent with the infant classes. About three years ago Miss Taylor entered on a well-earned retirement, and with three friends undertook a trip embracing Great Britain and the Continent, in which her sound knowledge of literature and history further enhanced the pleasure of the trip. On her return she found it advisable to undergo a serious operation. A year ago she came to live with her sister in Nash street, there receiving the best of care and attention. Aliss L. O. Taylor is survived by one brother, Air David Tayl6r (Milton) and threo sisters, Airs G. N. Stephenson (Palmerston North), Mrs J. Horne (Karori, Wellington) and Aliss J. Al. Taylor (Palmerston North).
