Dr. and Mrs. W. S. V. Bransgrovc, who have been holidaying at Taupo, have returned to Palmerston North.

Mr. C. S. Williams, F.R.C.S.E., of Palmerston North, who is at present pursuing specialised study in America has visited St. Louis, New York, Boston, Rochester, Chicago and Cleveland. From January 10 to 14 he expects to attend the annual convention of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Sur geons in Cleveland.

Canon G. Y. Woodward, vicar of All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, has been granted nine months’ leave by the Bishop of Wellington, to take a wellearned rest and revisit his homeland, England. Tho canon expects to sail the first week in March and will be accompanied by Mrs. Woodward and their two daughters, the Misses Joyce and Dorothy Woodward. Rev. N. Langston, at present vicar at Eltham, will be in charge of All Saints’ parish during Canon Woodward’s absence. Testifying to the osteein in which the deceased gentleman was held, there was a big and representative attendance at the funeral yesterday of the late Mr. 11. B. Tucker, of Palmerston North. Prior to the cortege leaving for Kelvin Grove cemetery, there was a short service at All Saints’ Church, conducted by Canon G. Y. Woodward, who also took the

service at this graveside. The cortege consisted of about GO cars. The pallbearers at the church were Messrs. A. Clark, J. A. Nash, A. E. Bennett, C. F. Russell, F. Pegdon and A. Levy, while those at the cemetery were deceased’s four sons—Messrs. H. G., F. H., V. E.

and E. D. Tucker—and Messrs. H. Jl. Thorburn and T. A. Hastings. A wealth of floral tributes was laid ou the graveside.
