Only Rabbits!
CONTENTS OF SUSPECTED GAME BAG. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Last Night. A £lO lino was imposed on Bernard Vincent Buliff by the Magistrate, Mr. Maunsell, on a charge of resisting the Marlborough Acclimatisation Society's ranger in the exercise of his powers. The facts disclosed that the ranger suspected Buliff of having illicit game in bags which he was carrying when accosted.
According to the ranger, Buliff disputed his right to search and blows were exchanged. Subsequently it was discovered that the bags actually contained rabbits. The charge was dismissed by the Magistrate at tho original hearing two months ago on the defenco that the ranger had insufficient grounds to suspect tho presence of illicit game and insist on a search. This decision was reversed by Mr. Justice Ostler on an appeal by the Acclimatisation Society to-day. The minimum penalty was exacted by tho Magistrate after hearing Buliff’s version of the affair.
