Trained like tho men police and dressed in almost tho same way, they spend their timo in clearing up many of the city’s difficulties which the men have found difficult to handle.

Owing to their efforts, detention room has been instituted in which juvenile delinquents mayc bo lodged safely out out the way of the harmful influence of older culprits. Moreover, the women polico personally investigate the cases of the young people and see that the kindliest and most understanding care is given them while in official hands and before they are passed on to a period of education in a special home. Lost or vagabond children arc their care, too, and often these aro brought to tho detention room, where they are fed and clothed pending the making of inquiries about them.
