From Our Own Correspondent Tennis Match With Rongotea. In the first- round of the Te Kawau Tennis Association's competition, the Sandon Tennis Club played a match with the Rongotea Club at Sandon last weekend.. The local club .were unable to complete the team of men, who were replaced by lady members. The result of the match was greatly in favour of the visitors. Results are as follows, Rongotea players being mentioned first:— Women’s singles.—Miss G. Eades won from Miss Gwen Sanson, 6 —4; Miss T. Eades won from Miss L. Lumsden, G —3; Miss Fyfe lost to Miss LS. Lumsden, 3—6; Mrs J. Aird won from Miss G. Adams, 6—2; Miss A. Buchanan lost to Miss M. Butler, .2—G. Women s doubles.—Misses G. Bade and D. Eade won from Misses G. Sanson and L. Lumsden, G—l; Mrs Davidson and Miss Fyfe won from Misses L. Gedye and B. Lumsden, G—2; Mrs Aird and Miss Buchanan won from Misses G. Adams and M. Butler, 6 —l. Mixed doubles.—Churchill and Mrs Aird won from Ken Lumsden and Miss G. Adams, G—l; McLean and Miss Buchanan lost to P. Gedye and Miss Butler, 3 —G. Ranking Matches.

Tong v. ,Rev. R. E. Fordyce. Personal. The friends of Mr Thos. Sanson will regret to learn that his wife is at present seriously Indisposed. Mr and Mrs W. H. Oppatt have returned to Sandon after an extended tour of the North Island. Friends of Mrs .Tob. Harris will bo pleased to learn that she is making favourable progress after her recent serious illness. General. -The.annual picnic of the Sanson School is to lie held on Saturday at the local recreation grounds. Certificates and prizes won by the punils during the year will be presented at. this function. The Sunday school anniversary concert of tho Methodist Church is to be held at the Snnson church on Thursday evening. The anniversary services were held last Sundav and each service'was very well attended. A very pleasing part of tho services was (he splendid singing of tho children, which was very much enjoyed h- tup congregation. It is pleasing to learn that all pupils who sat for the proficiency examination conducted at Buils on Monday were successful except one, who obtained his competency.
