MeCready Beats George

TWO FALLS TO ONE AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Niglit. The Auckland Town Hall was liileu to capacity on Saturday night when Lari MeCready, of Canada, and Ed. Don George, oi America, met for the third time in New Zealand and MeCready scored a popular victory with two fails to one. The lirst fall wab obtained by George in the second round. Ue had experienced much dillicuity in escaping from a hammerlock, the ropes eventually affording him his release. He then butted the Canadian with nis head, doubling the latter up. George followed this with a succession of solid forearm

jolts and he euded his attack by lifting MeCready for a slam and body press. MeCready maintained a strong shortarm scissors for several minutes in the

fifth round. The American eventually escaped but was felled with a jolt and then another severe application of the short-arm scissors enabled MeCready to press his opponent's shoulders to the mat.

The sixth round proved one of the most thrilling ever seen and a willing exchange of forearm jolting had the crowd thoroughly roused. Then the contestants slummed each other hi Vurn. AleCready appeared to be getting much the worse of matters but, after being throwu heavily to the mat, ho suddenly caught his opponent unawares and rolled quickly over after a slam to pin George’s shoulders for the deciding fall.
