Charge Against Governor Dismissed

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. NEW YORK, Dec. 1. A message from Rutland (Vermont) states that the Court dismissed the charge against Governor Smith.

Governor Smith, who is also president of the Rutland Marble Savings Bank, was charged with concealing bank thefts. His arrest followed the convicton of a bookkeeper, John Cocklin, a war veteran, for the embezzlement of 124,000 dollars over a period of nine years. The latter stated at his trial that Governor Smith had promised that the shortage would never be known.
