This represented an increaso of £B6 over the school's incidental grant of £24 received last year,-said the chairman. Next year the school's grading would go up to grado 7, instead of 6B as at present.

The committee expressed its sympathy with Mr. A. W. Thompson, headmaster of Terrace End School, in his recent bereavement.

It was decided to thank several nurserymen for their contributions during the year to the school gardens.

Pleasure was expressed that a roso from the school garden won a prize at the recent horticultural show in the city. The example was one which other schools might well emulate. Seasonal greetings were exchanged between chairman and members, and were also extended to the headmaster and staff, and ladies’ committee, who were all thanked for their co-operatiori during the year. The headmaster reciprocated.

At Mr. Cutler’s suggestion, it was decided to shift from the vicinity of the old school to that of the new, two horizontal bars to be used by the taller buys. The headmaster (Mr. L. J. Plank) reported that the school roll was now 535, with an average attendance for the past month of 502. Results of tho recent proficiency examinations were most satisfactory. The other examinations were now in progress. Miss K. Landers had been appointed at Bunnythorpe and would be leaving at the end of the year. Miss D. Hampton had been appointed to Newton West, Auckland. Both had done good service, Appreciation was expressed of the committee’s services to the school during the year.
