Wool Sale at Napier To-day

MANY ATTRACTIVE CLIPS. GOOD DISPLAY OF FINE SORTS. NAPIER, Dec. 1. The wool to be offered at the first Napier wool sale of the season on Friday is in lighter condition than that offered at the first sale of the season last year, but generally speaking it will be fairly soft handling. The allocation for the salo is 28,000 bales, but it is probable that this total will be not quite reached owing to wet weather interfering with shearing. The exceptional rise in prices at Auckland on Saturday, together with the decided movement and improvement in values on the English market, as shown in yesterday’s cables, has given rise to widespread interest being focussed in the offering. The bulk of the wool for salo is in contrast with the greater portion of that offered in Auckland, which consisted of carding types. Much of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast wool is longer and better grown, being more bold in character,

but it remains to bo seen to what extent buyers will be prepared to extend their limits lor these types. If all consuming countries are in the market for preparing types, it is anticipated that advances in values equivalent to those made in, Auckland will be maintained.

Various buyers, of whom there will be a full bench on Friday, were busy this morning making their valuations. A refreshing feature of the display is that it consists almost entirely of the new season's clips, heid-ovef lots being practically absent. Many clips are very attractive, some of them outstanding; in these the attention given to get-up is very noticeable. The fine wools provide a good selection, and among these are a number of coast clips in which the quality has been kept up by careful breeding. These clips make a particularly attractive display. The clips show very little evidence of the weather stains which were prominent last season, and shabby lots form only a small percentage.
