From Our Own Correspondent Women's Institute. Mrs Miller presided over a good attendance at the November meeting of liie Women’s Institute, which was held at Mrs D. Hogan’s. Several visitors from Apiti were welcomed. A produce stall in aiil of tho . health stamp campaign was well patronised. The members also authorised the secretary to purchase health stamps for institute use. An interesting report was given on the council meeting by Mrs Miller. The president then introduced Mrs C. M. Stanely. who gave a very interesting address on the potteries at Stoke-on-Trent. She also had with her many illustrations and photographs which addei interest to the subject. The judges of tin monthly competitions were Mesdames Stanely, R. Churcher, A. W. Bird and Coombridge. Miss E. Jensen came first and second in the decorative saucer, with Miss M. Pettigrew third. For the homemade soap Mrs W. Jensen was first, Miss E. Malcolm second, and Miss E. Jensen third. Miss A. Kearney acted as steward for the competitions and Miss E. Jensen was in charge of the produce stall. Mrs Stanely. the judges and hostesses were accorded a vote of thanks for their efforts. The next meeting is to be held at Mrs H. Jensen’s. Wo hope to have Mrs Coombridge to demonstrate n French knitting. The competitions are to be a vase of flowers arranged for effect, and a Christmas present not to cost more than one shilling.
