Johnsonville Sale
Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., and Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report ou the Johusonville sale held on Wednesday as follows: W’e offered an average yarding of cattle and a large yarding of all classes of sheep. Tho bullocks consisted of a few pens of heavy weight cattle, the balance of the yarding being of light to medium weight bullocks. Prime heavy cattle met with a ready sale at prices firm to the extent of 5s per head on last week’s rates, medium eattio firm with no alteration, while light aud unfinished sorts were slightly easier. We yarded several p.ens of exceptionally prime heavy weight cows aud heifers. These met with spirited competition with prices up to tho extent of 10s per head on last week. Medium and plain cows were hard to sell, pricos being lower to the extent of 10s to 15s per head. No cows, ex dairy, were yarded. The yarding of runners and veaiers was of indifferent quality and met with little demand. The wethers comprised chiefly heavy weight sheep with a few pens of medium and unfinished sorts. Prime heavy wethers were keenly sought after, prices being on a par with those ruling last week. Medium weight sheep showed no alteration. Tho yarding of ewes was of exceptionally good quality, comprising extra heavy weight sheep with a few pens of light and unfinished sorts. All classes met with a ready sale, prices for heavy weight sheep being Is firmer and for light and unfinished sheep, no alteration. The hoggets yarded wero of poor quality and did not meet with tho usual demand. Owing to the inferior quality prices were Is to Is Gd per head easier. There was the usual yarding of good quality spring lambs, but owing to the drop in wholesale prices, there was not tho keen demand for lambs that there was the previous week, prices being in some cases easier to the extent of 2s to 2s Gd per head for heavy weights and Is to Is Gd for light lambs.
