Boxing Notes

(By “Left Jab.”) I hear excellent accounts of Harold Reeve. He is reported to De in wonderful fettle and boxing better than over. There are many who think that Harold will give the negro the scrap of his life. Interest in the contest is increasing by hops, steps and jumps and a record crowd is practically assured.

Everything is in readiness for the fray and the new gloves for the bout have arrived. There is every probability of young ytoek, of Auckland, being matched. It will bo remembered that Stock, without any training worth speaking of, put up a great fight with Joe Collins, the Manawatu cracxerjaek, at the last tournament. Boxers will be present from Wellington, Waipukurau,. Fcilding, Auckland, Mastcrton and Grey town. Our old friend, Air. E. T. Horne, formerly mine host of tho Rutland Hotel, is bringing Hector Calder and Bob Finnegan, also their trainer, Tim Tracey. The Pahiatua Boxing Association is under a deep debt of gratitude to Air. Horne. He has not only battled round Wellington on more than one occasion to provide us with boxing talent, but motored the contestants to and fro at his own expense. No more generous “sport” has ever been associated with the boxing game than “Trader” Horne. And his generous actions arc carried out with quiet unostentation. The Pahiatua Boxing Association raises its hat to “Trader.” Air. 0. E. Cadwallader, of Grcytown,

the well-known boxing referee, will be the third man in the ring ou Saturday evening.
