Health Camp Campaign
LOCAL COMMITTEE FORMED A meeting convened by the postmaster (Mr. C. S. Carrad) for the,purpose of setting up a health camp committee was held in tho Borough Council chambers last evening. Mr. H. R. Ogg outlined the object of the meeting and dealt briefly yet comprehensively with the proposals ' and suggestions contained in correspondence received from the Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, and concluded with a request for the setting up of a committee to further the fine work of the health camp. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr. F. W. H. Bolton; secretary, Mr. H. R. Ogg; treasurer, Mr. C. y. Carrad (postmaster); committee, Mesdames N. A. Prussing, W. T. Boyd, W. H. Purdie and A. C. Austin and Messrs T. Clarke (school), R. L. Darley, L. Chatwin and the elected officers ex officio.
It was decided to arrange for collection boxes to be taken round at forthcoming functions and.to have a big “drivo” ou Saturday, November 7, when house-to-house and street collections, subscription and donation lists and a gift shop will be undertaken. Various methods for obtaining publicity were agreed upon and tae committee is now energetically organising in this direction.
Any persons interested in tills laudable work-—the task of making happier and brighter the'lives of little ones unfortunate enough to require assistance —are earnestly invited to attend the next meeting of the committee on Wednesday, 21st inst., in the Borough Council chambers.
