“QUALITY STREET’S’ ’ SECOND NIGHT. Eager to taste the delights of Barrie's subtle comedy, •• Quality Street,'' an audience of gratifying proportions patronised the -L.ittie VUeatre Society's second night of tho tnreeuight season last evening. There was pleasurable evidence of tlieir enjoyment and a sense of appreciation for tiio iiv iinito pains to vvuick tbo socie ly had gone in its endeavours to set a fresh standard 111 amateur stage work in tho Ataiiawatu.

Tho atmosphere of the age was admirably captured and revealed oa ,tho stage in tne blue and white room in the bouse of the Misses Susan and Rliueue Tiirossel in Quality Street, through tho bowed winuow at the back there was a glimpse of Quality Street and iu tiio room a deiigntfui picture of the life and manners of tho times. Needless to say tlie plays culls for some very interesting cnaracter work anu the Bittlo Theatre Society presented a polished performance. Tne players ait prolited by the experience of tiio iirst night and the absence of prompting lent a nigh standard to tho wnolo characterisation. Tho work of tho principals relioctod great credit upon tlie producer and gave a glimpse of the spontaneous co-operation tiiat permeates tho whole. Tlie musical programme arranged by Miss Mona Bean as on the opening night was an important feature of the entertainment and combined most effectively with the stage work to complete a most satisfying experience.

Behind stage were many enthusiastic members whose services made possible the execution of this line performance. The season closes this evening and uii lovers of picturesque drama such as J. M. Barrie is famed for, aro advised to book tlieir scats as the attendance promises to be a largo ouo.
