“Garden” Afternoon at Feilding

Miss Buth Swainson, a very popular little bride-to-be, is just now being much feted by friends who are concentrating upon seeing as much of her as possiblo before she leaves for her new homo in Paliiatua. Several parties havo already been given in her honour and a number are still to eventuate.

On Wednesday a delightful “garden" afternoon was given Miss Swainson by Mosdames P. Camoron and C. G. C. Dernier at the former's homo in Kimbolton road. The grounds, in the bright sunshine that prevailed, wero looking most attractive and in the courso of the afternoon the guests spent a very happy time viewing and admiring the beautiful flowers.

Mrs Cameron greeted Miss Swainson with a charming bouquet in pale and deep tones of pink and mauve, and later on she was presented by those at the party with gifts of bulbs, pot plants, seeds and seedlings, gloves, tools and many other such things that will bo of great use anon.

With deft fingers Mrs Cameron had arranged blue irises and Argentine peas in her pretty drawing-room, choosing roses and cherry blossom for the smoke room and a variety of pastel tinted flowers for the dining-room. The guests were entertained with an unusual and very interesting competition, of which Miss Patricia Goodbehere was the winner, and a delicious afternoon tea was later dispensed. Mrs Cameron wore a graceful gown of green blistered crepe, the corsage being finished with bronze gold flowers, Mrs Dermer was in a lido blue ensemble and Miss Swainson chose for the occaIsion a smart tailored tweed suit with which she wore a lace blouse and brown accessories.
