“Glass” Mackintoshes
Mackintosh capes made of “glass’' — transparent and colourless oilskin — have made a successful debut in London on the backs of two young American women visitors.
iso successful are they that three London firms have cabled to America asking for supplies of the capes to be sent to England. At first sight, the capes look a little weird —but their usefulness cannot bo denied. They have a pointed hood which is large enough to tit right over the top of a medium-sized summer hat, They are long enough to reach within three or four inches from the ground, but fold up and pack away into an envelope only six inches by four. As they are transparent, the colouring and style of summer dresses can ba displayed as effectively in the rain as in. the sun—a great benefit in the English climate which this summer has been one continual downpour!
