Sister Ship to Queen Mary
CONTRACT SIGNED (British Official Wireless) Received Wednesday, 7.5 p.m. RUGBY, Oct. 6. The formal contract between the Cuuard-Whito Star Company and tho shipbuilders for the construction of the express steamship known as* No. 552, the sister ship to the Queen Mary, was signed at Liverpool to-day. Messrs. John Brown have moved into position iu their yard on the Clyde tho huge crane used in tho construction of the Queen Mary and are proceeding with the formation of the keel box for the new liner. They have already placed an order with Messrs. William Beardinoro for the hull castings for No. 552. These castings are of exceptional dimensions and consist of a cast steel stem, a cast steel stern frame, cast steel shaft brackets, and a cast steel rudder. They will ire manufactured at the Beardmore Parkhead works, Glasgow. The contract is estimated to be worth many thousands of pounds and is one of the largest received by the firm for many years.
