At the Borough Council meeting on Monday night the special committee to choose the sito for tho public conveniences reported that they recommended that the new building be erected in the Square, north of the Kings Theatre. Tho committee’s recommendation for the site was adopted, and the architect is to be authorised to call tenders for tho erection of the biulding along the lines suggested.

A member of the recreation committee expressed the hope that more of the local sports bodies make use of tho recreation ground. The ground was now in excellent condition, he said. For some years tho Pahiatua swimming baths have been run by a swimming club, but this year the Borough Council intend to control it themselves. The consulting engineer to the borough, Mr H. F. Toogood, was asked by a special meeting lately to draw up a new report and cost of a proposed wator supply from the Mangahoa river. A loan of £22,000 would bo required for this scheme.
