Mr. D. O. "Williams, -who leaves Massey College staff to take up his new appointment as a director of the Bank of New Zealand, was met by students of the college yesterday and presented with a suitcase as a token of esteem.

ment officials on matters relating to seed standards and tho export trade.

The statement was made yesterday by Cr. W. B. Tennent that it was not his intention to proceed any further with any contemplated proceedings, which ho had announced at a recent meeting of tho Falmerston North City Council to tho effect that he was issuing against Cr. J. Hodgcns, M.P., in consequence of the reference to Cr. Tennent contained in a telegram which Cr. Hodgens had forwarded to tho City Council some three weeks ago. Cr. Tennent intimated yesterday that though he considered the proper place for Cr. Hodgens to have made a withdrawal of the statement was at the council table, he understood, from peoplo who had attended the public meeting in the Opera House on September 19, that Cr, Hodgens had there mado the necessary withdrawal. Under the circumstances, said Cr. Tennent, ho had decided to regard this matter as closed.
