Feilding Miniature Rifle Club

FINAL SHOOT OF SEASON

The Feilding Miniature Eifie Club held its final shoot for the season on Monday evening when, after the competition, the trophies won during the year were presented by the president, Mr. E. H. Buchanan. There was a good attendance of members, vice-presi-dents present being Messrs H. Smithers, E. Brewer,. P. P. Stevens and C. Aitken, and these gentlemen congratulated members on the successful season they had enjoyed. Although the season just completed was the first complete season the club had had, members had made excellent progress and the standard of shooting was high. Business men had been liberal in their support of the club by way of trophies, and tho club was indebted to them for their generosity. Members had taken a keen interest in tho sport and the weekly practice shoots had been well attended. Tho club had competed for various trophies and had been rewarded by success. Visits to Aokautere, Bunnythorpe, Awahuri, Bulls, Sanson and Ohakea had been made, and apart from the rifle shooting members had enjoyed the hospitality of kindred clubs. A friendly spirit among the clubs prevailed, and, win or lose, the club had entered into the true spirit of tho sport, taking defeat smilingly. Financially, the club ivas sound and now possessed five good rifles, besides other equipment of value. Mr. Smithers kindly offered the club a cup or shield for competition next soason, and the offer was gratefullyaccepted. Mr. Brewer, on behalf of those present, eulogised tho work and financial support of tho president, Mr. E. H. Buchanan. To him, stated Mr. Brewer, the club was greatly indebted, for not only had he put in a considerable amount of work in furthering interest in the club, but had also given liberal financial support. Mr. N. Eosoman entertained members with card tricks. The scores of the final shoot were:— J. Craig 99, G. Bramwell 99, E. Patou 97, F. Booking 90, 1.. Shailer 90, P. do la Cour 90, W. Griffin 95, N. Eosoman 95, T. Boness 94, S. Mayliew 94, L. Curtis 94, A. Gulbransen 93, E. Beazer 93, W. Bray 93, I. Aitken 92, J. Frazer 92, K. Cossar 92, H. Brewster 92, C. Wickham 91, C. Aitken 90, K. Julian 89, N. Bramwell 88, H. Gardiner S 7, E. Buchanan 87. Trophies presented were:— Cobbe Cup, for club aggregate: J. Craig; second, N. Eosoman; third, AV. Shailer. Highest aggregate in A grade travelling matches: J. Craig. Tisdall Cup for handicap aggregate: N. Eosoman. B grade cup, travelling matches: A. Gulbransen. E. Bailey Cup: J. Craig. Mclntyre Trophy: L. Shailer first, I. Aitken second. John Cobbe and Co.’s Trophy: E. Beazer. Aggregate prize: J. Craig first, N. Eosoman second. Trophy- for highest score off rifle: J. Craig first, G. Bramwell second. A grade self-handicap trophy: N. Eosoman first, L. Shailer second. B grade self-handicap: F. Booking, with W. Griffin second. C grade self-fiandicap: J. Frazer 1, T. Bouess 2, E. Buchanan 3. Consolation trophy, junior members: K. Julian. A competition for a smoker’s stand was won by N. Bramwell.
