COKE PRICES TO BE INCREASED.

Large consumers ,of gas in Palmerston Worth will benefit under a decision made by the City Council last night to reduce the price to (is per thousand for all gas consumed over 25,000 cubic feet per month. Under 25,000 cubic feet the rate is to remain as at present, uamely 7s tid per thousand. In a report to the lighting committee, on whose recommendation the decision was made, the gas manager (Mr. J. W. Muir), stated that the reduction proposal would mean £l2l 10s per annum. Owing to the increase that has takeu place in the price of coal, which will cost the gasworks an additional £IOO per annum, the council decided that there should be an increase in the price of coke.
