A handsomo cup has been presented to the Pahiatua A. and P. Show by Mr G. G. Hill, of the Rutland Hotel, for the open pony jump at the forthcoming show. A question was asked at the Pahiatua County Council meeting on Saturday as to the fate of the two employees who had formerly attended the horsos—which were recently disposed of. Mr Macrae, overseer, stated that the men in question were not to be put off as other work had been found for them. Tho new garage, being built for D. P. Ryan and Sons, Ltd., in tho Main street of Pahiatua, is taking shape. Tho girders for tho roof were put in position yesterday and it is expected that the garage will be ready for occupation early next month. The barometer reading at 5 p.m. yesterday was 29.7 deg., temperature 6-tdeg. Pahr. Tho day in Pahiatua was bright and sunny with little wind blowing.
