PAHIATUA v. MAKOMAKO
On Sunday the day was not a good golfing one, the wind was of gale proportions, which made playing conditions both unpleasant and difficult on the Pahiatua Golf Club course. Pahiatua won all the singles except two, and won five of the six four-ball games and halved one. Results: —
Singles: Swainson beat Morgan; Watson beat 11.l 1 . Ebbett; Eisset lost to Potter; Clarke beat Holdaway; Nelson beat 11. Ebbett; C. Harvey beat Harley; T. Harvey beat J. Sargent; Judd beat Atkinson; Taylor beat Eising; Boagcy beat Callender; Lloyd beat Chinery; Broughton lost to Hamilton. Four-ball: Swainson and Boagey beat Morgan ana Callender; Watson and T. Harvey beat F. Ebbett and J. Sargent; Mills and Bisset beat Wylie and Potter; Clarke and Lloyd beat Holdaway and Chinery; Judd and Taylor beat Atkinson and Eising; C. Harvey and Broughton halved with Harley and Hamilton.
Eketahuna Too Good,
The Pahiatua Golf Club played a challenge match for the Cecil Eosebowl, against the Eketahuna Club on Sunday afternoon, and suffered defeat at the hands of the Eketahuna ladies by eight games to two. The match was played in very boisterous weather. Eketahuna won this challenge trophy from Pahiatua four season’s ago and the Pahiatua ladies have been unable to recapture it since.
The detailed results are as follows: — Mrs Nelson lost to Mrs McGregor, 5 and I; Miss Rutherford lost to Miss Grcathcad, 4 and 3; Miss Ross lost to Miss Angus, 3 and 2; Miss Boyd lost to Mrs Page, 5 and 4; Mrs Morgan lost to Mrs Hickson, 3 and 2; Miss Raleigh beat Miss O’Bonnell, 3 and 1; Mrs Honald beat Miss Hickson, 4 and 3; Miss Hoggard lost to Miss P. O’Bonnell, 3 and 2; Miss Junker lost to Miss Simmers by default; Mrs Goer lost to Mi3S P. O'Eegan, 6 and 5.
