Cheltenham Hall
BALL TO MARK RE-CON-STRUCTION. The completion of the work of reconstructing and thoroughly renovating the Cheltenham hall is to be commemorated by a grand ball to be held on Tuesday next, October 13, and for this noteworthy event Larkins’ full orchestra has been engaged. Tlio hall has been completely remodelled and the committee controlling this popular rendezvous for the social functions of the district is to be congratulated upon the success which has attended their efforts to give expression to the desires of all organisations interested. A sum of £SOO has been expended on the work and the new hall should now meet every requirement and prove a boon to the district. A new floor has been provided and, in addition, a new stage with dressing room accommodation at tho rear, a new supper room, attached to which is a conveniently arranged and up-to-date kitchen, and new dressing room accommodation for ladies. These substantial improvements have completely transformed the old hall and it now offers every convenience and facility equal in every way to the equipment of public halls in tho closely-populated centres. The contractor for tho work was Mr W. Wilkinson, of Feilding, while Mr T. Collins supervised the whole of the reconstruction. The new building is certainly a credit to Cheltenham and is the outcome of tho district effort made towards the end of last year to raise funds for this special object.
