Prom Our Own Correspondent

A special service for younp people was held at the Apitl Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoon and was attended by Sunday school teachers, scholars, parents and friends. During the offertory, a hymn was sung by two little girls, Joyce White and Joan Hazeldine. Rev. A. F. Stewart conducted the service and his remarks to the young people were listened to with interest and attention. In previous years the prize giving has taken place at this anniversary service, but. this . year _ the teachers decided that the prize giving shall bo at the end of the year's work when the full year’s marks are available. . Miss F. Mclntyre and Master Duncan Mclntyre, of Fellding, spent the week-end with Mrs. H. C. Mclntyre, Makoura road. Mr Don. Harland, who was visiting his mother, , Mrs. M. Harland, for the week-end, met with a slight accident on the Main road, Apiti, on Sunday atter- ' noon. Ho was travelling on his motorcycle, fortunately at a very modern .e pace, when he collided with a dog and was thrown, to sustain nasty cuts to his ha idr! Dan Stewart, of the Auckland Police Force, who has been spending his leave with his relatives in Apiti, Dunnevirke and Shannon, returned north on Sunday night's express. On Saturday evening several cyclists riding into Apiti township were suiprised to find the District Policeman on duly. Some did not have lights, but it is not known whether action is being taken against the offenders, or whether they were the recipients of a timely warning. Docking operations have been keeping the sheep farmers busy recently and despite the unpleasant weather experienced during the lambing season, good percentages have been reported lrom several farms. The recent egg drive in the Apiti Presbyterian Home Mission district met with great success for 136 dozen eggs were collected for tho Presbyterian Orphanage in Wellington.
