Consignment of Whisky Tours the World
ACCELERATION OF MATURITY IN SHIPS’ HOLDS Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. A valuable consignment of whisky which is being transported round the world to accelerate maturity, will reach Auckland from Alelbourno by the Union Company's steamer Kairanga to-mor-row. Tho whisky is contained in 61 butts and 74 hogsheads, and its value in England is £55,000. Tho liquid quantity is 30,732 gallons. Tho cargo was carried from England to' Melbourne via the Cape of Good Hope in tho steamer Royal Star, and at Alelbourno it was transferred to the Kairanga. At Auckland tho whisky will be loaded on the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa, which is to sail for London, via Panama, next Friday.' ; When tho Tamaroa reaches London about November 11, tho whisky will have travelled about 26,000 mnes. From London it is to be returned to Glasgow', where it wrns made, and it wdll tuen be stored for a further period until it is fully matured and ready for consumption.
