Feilding Women's Division

BRANCH MEETING HELD. There was a good attendance for the monthly meeting of the Feilding branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, held on Friday afternoon last, with Airs R. H. Buchanan presiding. The meeting carried a resolution of sympathy w T ith Airs H. E. Hoekeli, of Grassmere, in her illness and expressed good wishes for her speedy recovery. Airs A. E. Palmer, Mrs D. Ferguson and Aliss Lobf were welcomed as new members. Mrs Buchanan also extended a welcome to Airs T. Watson, who has returned from a holiday in Australia The Wellington central provincial meeting is to be held at Alarton this month, when Air L. J. Wild will give an address.

The housekeeping secretary reported that eight applications had been received during the month for housekeepers. At tho November meeting, Air G. A. Batt will givo a short address. The secretary (Airs E. Scott) gave a report on the community sing field on Tuesday. Regret was expressed that so many people were unable to gain admission.

Votes of thanks were passed to the Feilding Alunicipal Band, the Fire Brigade, Alessrs John Cobbe and Go., Air and Airs W. N. Jones, Air S. McDowall, the ushers, sweets girls aud artists wdio contributed to the programme. All had done their share iu making the event an outstanding financial success, It was most significant that at both functions the W.D.F.U. had held this year (the farmers’ ball and the community sing) the uccomntoda lion had been insufficient. Thanks were also extended to Air F. Groombridgo for preparing the tlieatro for the sing. Final arrangements were put iu hand for tho ninth birthday of the branch, to be held next week. Afternoon tea was served by the hostess, Airs S. AlcDowall, and after a vote of thanks liad been passed to tao hostess and tho chair, the meeting closed.
