Y.W.C.A. Plans to Hold Art Exhibition
Tho Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors and the Advisory Board met yesterday to further the plans for the art exhibition which they propose holding during November. Those present included Mesdames E. C. Barnett, C. A. Small, W. H. Phillips, F. G. Major, R. Jamieson, A. M. Lasceiles, Misses Grigor, Forrest aud Hindlo and Messrs G. G. Priest, W. E. Winks, H. Christmas and J. H. Stevens.
Apologies were received from Mesdumes G. G. Priest, R. D. Knight, W. E. Winks, K. Dean, W. Rai.uforth, Messrs A. A. Langley, W. G. Black and A. Grigor.
Mr. G. G. Priest was in the chair. It was proposed to hold the exhibition in the Municipal hall, the official opening to take place on Tuesday evening, November 10, aud to continue for nine davs.
The scope of such an undertaking was enthusiastically discussed. It was decided to carry the scheme through on no mean scale as it was felt that this would be educational and give great joy to the citizens of Palmerston North and also bo revenue-producing to the Y.W.C.A. The conveners of the various sections were elected as follow:—Mr. Cr. G. Priest (antiques, jewellery and period costumes), Mr. A. A. Langley (pictures), Mr. W. G. Black (Maori section), Mr. W. E. Winks (publicity).
Committees of enthusiasts were formed under these headings with power to add.
