CITY COUNCIL DEFERS LOAN PROPOSALS. In connection with the previous decision of the council in reference to an application to the Government Loans Board for permission to take a poll of ratepayers to carry out work m connection with the Kawau drain cut-off and enlargement of this drain, the City Council decided last night that action be deferred meantime and that these works bo considered at a iatei date iu connection with stormwater drainage proposals. A copy of a communication forwarded by the member for the district to the Under-Secretary, internal Affairs Department, covering the submission of a clause to bo inserted in the Washing Up Bill giving the city the powers oi a drainage board in regard to all watercourses, etc., was read and received, and it was agreed that Cr. J. tlodgeus, M.P., bo thanked for the action taken.
