Feilding Plunket Society

MEETING OF COMMITTEE The committee of the Feilding Plunket Society met last week with Airs. A C. AicCorkindalo (president) presiding Thero were also present Alcsdamcs C. Bailey, It. Carter, J. Devine, T. Donaldson, E. Fair, W. Green, F. Mason, P. G. Aliles, R. McGregor, J. 13. Purcell, S. Sievers, P. G. Stevens and Alisses Alayo, McElroy and Aliller. Tho baby carnival was reported to have proved an outstanding success, due to the combined efforts of the general committee and a committee of mothers, comprising Alcsdamcs J. Garrick, T. Kelly, W. Drube, C. Crisp, A. Svendscn, Funnel, H. Hubbard, L. Jones and L. Blackbourn. A flower stall, bridge parties, afternoons, a children’s party, competitions and a picturo benefit were functions held for the local pair, John Drubo and Alargarct Kelly, and the amount raised was £49 3s 3d. Tho meeting unanimously decided to donate the whole of this sum to the building funds. These funds now totat £425. It was decided to send letters of thanks to the mothers of the babies in tho competition and to the country committees who had all worked very hard and had given most generously to the building funds. The winner of the lamb competition was Air. W. J. Alurch, Bailey street, Feilding. Airs. Stevens reported that tho Fetidmg amateurs had offered tho branch a share of the profit- from their forthcoming entertainment, “ What happened to Jones,” to be staged on September 23, 24 and 25.

Alisses Al. Garrett and N. Hausmann offered to organise a concert to be held in tho Parish hall on September 30, the net proceeds to bo donated to the funds. Both offers were gratefully accepted. Referring to the annual ball, which was being organised by tho associate committee, the president stated that arrangements were well in hand for a bright and gay entertainment in the form of a Shanghai Cabaret. Gratification was expressed at the increased grant front the Alacarthy Trust funds.
