Plimmer (secret!l An apology was received from Dr. Thompson. , , When the minutes had been read ana confirmed, Mr Watson vacated tho chair in favour of Mr McDonald. The chairman romarked that app ication had been made for the North Island championships, but that they had been allocated to Wanganui. Ho added tho ladies’ match had been abandoned for two years because of wet weather. .. Speaking of the balance-sheet, Mr Robertson voiced tho opinion of e meeting when he said the credit was as good as ever it had been. Correspondence. Advice was received from the New Zealand Association that in the event of a Japanese team visiting Australia during the summer, it was proposed to endeavour to get the team to extend its tour and play in New Zealand. Election of Officers. Officers for tho ensuing year were elected as under: — President: Mr H. N. Watson. Vice-presidents: Dr. S. J. Thompson (Levin) and Dr. E. C. Barnett (Palmerston North). When the election of a secretary was under consideration, Mr Plimmer announced that for business reasons be was reluctantly compelled to relinquisn the position. Mr Haddon was then elected secretary and Mr D. 1. Robertson re-elected honorary treasurer. Committee of seven: Messrs J. T. McDonald, 0. H. Tate, G. C. Yates, L. A. Reichenbach, J. Christie, and L. 1. Plimmer, and Miss Horn. Mr Watson was re-appointed sole selector.

Notice of Motion. In accordance with notico given, Mr Yates formally moved that the rules be amended, making it a condition that the annual meeting of tho association be held in October of each year. in support Mr Yates re-iterated his contention that clubs should be given tho opportunity of holding their annual meetings before that of the parent association. Mr McKenzie seconded tho motion, explaining' that under existing conditions clubs were not given the opportunity of discussing matters which were likely to be brought forward at the annual meeting of the association. Mr Watson stated tho question of rules was ono which was thoroughly gono into and tho reason for holding the meeting in August is that unless it is held in that month the Manawatu Association would bo practically disfranchised. He added it was wrong to delegate to the committee matters which might be of vital importance to the players because the committee consisted largely ot people who belonged to Palmerston North. Mr Watson argued that clubs could well hold their annual meetings earlier and no could not see that anything was to be gained by altering the date of tho association’s meeting to October. Mr Watson considered the arguments against the proposed change were so great that it would not bo wise to give effect to it. Mr Reichenbach spoke in favour ot the motion, stating he had been instructed by his club to do so. Mr Plimmer also was in favour, suggesting that any difficulty through holding the meeting in October could bo overcome by calling a general meeting of the council. Mr Tate agreed that club meetings should be held earlier, but in view of the present position he proposed to support the motion. Speaking again, Mr Watson said he was dead against making any alterations in rules which had been drafted by representatives from all over the association’s district. Mr Yates, in reply, explained that Wanganui and Wairarapa held their annual meetings after the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association. The chairman pointed out that unless members received formal notice of the intention seven days before the date of the meeting, Mr Yates’ motion was out of order. Mr Watson contended members hart been given only six days’ notice. Mr McDonald said he was against altering the rules, which had been compiled with such care, but he thought the motion was a good one, worthy of

a trial. Mr McDonald ruled that the motion was out of order, the necessary notice not having been given. Mr Yates intimated he would again introduce the matter at a later date. The remits to be considered at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Association, and the recommendations made by the management committee at its meeting last week, were before the meeting and the recommendations were approved. Christie Cup Challenge.
