Typhoon Strikes Hongkong

United Press Association —By Electrlo Telegraph. —Copyr’gh t. Received Monday, 9.50 p.ni, HONGKONG, Aug. 17. A typhoon wrecked buildings in the city and devastated the surrounding villages. Over a hundred are believed to be dead. The steamer Sunning carrying British officers and 40 Chinese passengers and crew went ashore. The military garrison is making an offort to establish contact by means of a land line to effect rescues, while police launches arc battling with a wild sea to reach the vessel.
