From Our Own Correspondent. Old Pupils’ Association. Air. Al. Aloffat tpresideiuj presided over a meeting of tlie committee of the Eoxton High School Old i’upils’ Association. Air. Al. Aloffat, on behalf of members ot the association, called on Mrs. J. Wans to accept a small token of appreciation for her Kindness and generosity in allowing tne committee tho use of her room and lor the many other ways in which she had helped the association. Airs. Wails suitably acknowledged tho gift. Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild. Alesdames vV. Baird and S. Newth were the hostesses at tho monthly social afternoon of the Presbyterian Cadies’ Guild, thero being an excellent attendance oi members and friends. A bring and buy btall transacted brisk business throughout tho afternoon. Afternoon tea was dispensed by tho hostesses to whom a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded on uie motion of Airs. u. Boss (president). Horticultural Society. Air J. R Aliddletou president) presided over a committee meeting of the Foxton Horticultural Society. At a recent meetinsr it was decided to hold the spring show on September 15, but owing to the ltongotea Show being held oil tnat date it was decided to change the dale of the local exhibition to September 2Z. Arrangements in connection with the schedules were finalised and it is hoped to have them out within the next week, l'he appointment of Air. 1. IV. Aludford as secretary was confirmed, and the entertainment programme was leu in Uie hands ol Arr. Aliddieton and Miss Whittaker. i Personal and General. Air. and- Airs. V. Semple, of Wellington, are at present visiting Foxton. Air. A. B. Lane, manager of tho Now Zealand Press Association, paid a brief visit to Fox Lon on Wednesday, •• Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, school medical oiheer, made an inspection of the pupils of tho local District High School last week. , , Airs.
