' From Our Own Correspondent There was'si good attendance last Wednesday evening when a social and dance in aid of school funds toon place. A most enjoyable time was spent by an those present. Items were rendered by a concert party brought out by iVtr. Vv luteloch. those taking part being Alisai d. JdcNeUly, ltussell Jachson, Messrs. Whiteloch and Woouhouse, Miss v. McNellly, Airs. McNeilly and Miss 1. JNickolson. Tne lucky bay ourdo b was won by Miss Htuart and Air. V> lids, tlie lucky spot by miss Wilds and Alt ischwabe; the Monte Carlo by Mis>s K. Andrews and Air. Candy, and the seconu Monte Carlo by Miss autcinfe and PCollins, supper was passed J i°und by the hosts and hostesses. A^cake kindly donated by *^ ££er SU pper dancing kept merrily going untn midnlunt The uulies of M.C. were caiout by Air. sanne. The hostesses Lnd hosts of we evening were Mesuames s Knight and J. Cheetham, and Messrs Death and Cheetham. A handiinie cushion kindly donated by Miss Schwanin was won by Mrs. Baines, J.e Aiatai road. persona|Miss Grace Linklaier is at present visiting tho Chateau with the Manawatu Tramping Club. _ Mr. Tiurry unklater and Mr. J. Cheetliam junior have also been holidaying at the Chateau and are at present touring . in 11 The friends of Airs. E. A. Shaw will he pleased to hear she has made a splendid recovery but it will be some time betore she is well enough to travel. Mrs. Sharpe has returned to her nome in Atartinborough. . Air. C. Wood is convalescing at home after his operation. Airs. A. K. Simpson has returned home after touring in the north. ’ Alucii sympathy is expressed with Air. and Airs. Jack Linklater in the loss they have sustained in the death of their bab> 'continued wet and rainy weather is having a detrimental effect on dairy stock and the milk supply has fallen cousiderArrangcments have been completed for the annual Newbury ball to be held on Tuesday, August 25. No effort has been spared to make this function a huge sue:ess.
