The sole survivor of the Wharncliffo colliery disaster died with the story of the fateful minute untold. Mine Disaster Fund KING MAKES CONTRIBUTION. LONDON, August 11. His Majesty King Edward, has sent £IOO to the Wharncliffo Miners’ Fund. The Northumberland and Durham miners rejected the proposed closing of the pits as a memorial.
