Pahangina Valley
From Our Own Correspondent Tho annual meeting of the Pohangina Domain Board was held recently. Mr. T. Sinclair was elected to tho chair. An apology from Mr. G. 11. Passey, who was indisposed, was received. Tho retiring officers’ wore re-elected for Lho ensuing year. Tho annual report stated that a motor mower had been purchased and also 100 posts tor fencing. Drains had been cleaned, fences repaired and hedges trimmed. The tennis court fence had been repaired and a length of new fencing erected. Trees blown down during the gale were cut up and debris cleared away. A small amount of fencing was still io be done and a new chimney purchased for the copper to replace the one broken in tile gale. The balance sheet showed a very satisfactory credit balance of nearly £4O. Ping Pong and Euchre. Despite the very wintry weather conditions prevailing on Friday night and the many counter attractions in tile district, there was a large attendance at the fortnightly euchre and ping pong evening held in the Pohangina Hall. The card tables, which were placed in tno supper room, were filled to capacity. The ping pong tables also drew large entries, and both games were greatly enjoyed by their players. The prizes In the euchre section were won by Mrs. F. VVagstaff, and Mr. j; T. Moar, the latter winning on a replay from Mr. A. E. Orglas. Consolation prizes were awarded Mrs. .1. D. Galvin and Mr. R. Kreegher. The winners of the ping pong were Miss A. Roberts and Mr. 11. Sinclair. Following are the details of play;— Men: 1. Blixt w 3 1 0, G. Wagstaff w 3 1 0, E. Wood w 3 1 0, R. The trophies were presented to tho winners by Mr. A. E. Orgias. Supper was served after which dancing was enjoyed to spirited music supplied by Mr. E. *"• VVagstaff made an offlicient M.C. Tho friends of Mr. C. E. Wlldbore, of Pohangina, who is ill in hospital, will bo pleased to learn that his condition shows improvement and will wish him a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. H. Shadbolt have left on an extended holiday as the guests of their daughter, Mrs. O. Smith, at Cambridge. Miss Noellne Smith, their granddaughter, who has been holiday-making In this district, accompanied them. Mrs. Tucker, of Wanganui, Is the guest of her cousin, Mrs. G. W, Drummond, "The Willows," Pohangina. -Miss Joyce White, of Palmerston North, is spending a short holiday with Mies Maddison at Willow Bank.
