Milson
From Our Own Correspondent The quarterly meeting of the Milson Progressive Association was held on Sunday morning when Mr. J. Johnston, vicechairman, occupied the chair in the absence of Mr. Richmond, whose apology for absence was received. Although quite a number of residents are not satisfied with tho present change in electricity charges, there were very few present at the meeting to voice their opinion. However, it was resolved to write to the Power Board protesting against the split coil meters being done away with and making the heating charge the same as the lighting charge, which means not a reduction but a substantial increase. Members present were Messrs. Johnston (chair), Williams, Ferguson, Price, Gumming and Bennetto (acting secretary). Arbor Day was celebrated at the Milson School on .Wednesday last. Special lessons were given on trees and forests and especially New Zealand trees. Mr. McEwan (headmaster) gave an address with special mention of former Arbor Days at the school. Lord Galway’s address on Arbor Day was read by one of the pupils, Willie Thomson. Items were given by the pupils followed by the planting of oak and rowan trees. Gaps were also filled in tho hedge. Personal. Mr. J. Main, a member of the traffic branch at the Palmerston North Railway Station,' who has been relieving at Linton. has returned to his usual duties. Mr. F. Paddy, of the shunting staff at Palmerston North railway yards, Is at present on his annual vacation and is visiting the South. Island.
